Eight fire engines and around 60 firefighters responded to a fire on Staffa Road, Leyton.
The fire was located at a metal recycling centre and around 20 tonnes of scrap metal was alight at the fires height. One of the Brigade's 32m ladders and a drone team deployed to the scene as part of our response.
Residents in the immediate were advised keep doors and windows closed due to the amount of smoke being produced by the fire.
The Brigade was first called about the fire at 0644, and crews from Leyton, Homerton, Walthamstow and surrounding fire stations were sent to the scene. The fire was under control by 0957.
The cause of the fire is not yet known.
