Six people were rescued following a house fire on Fordwych Road in West Hampstead last night.
Nine fire engines and around 65 firefighters were called to the blaze at 2223 where most of the ground floor of the property was damaged by the fire.Two people were rescued by firefighters from the first floor and another four people rescued from the second floor using ladders. A further person had left the property before the Brigade arrived. All those rescued, were assessed at the scene for smoke inhalation by London Ambulance Service crews.
The Brigade’s thermal imaging camera and drones were used to provide the Incident Commander with a more comprehensive understanding of the fire.
The Brigade’s 999 Control Officers took seven calls to the blaze and gave vital fire survival guidance to people in the building on how to stay safe before firefighters arrived.
Fire crews from West Hampstead, Paddington, Willesden and other surrounding fire stations attended the scene which was under control by 0152.
The cause of the fire is under investigation by the Brigade and the Metropolitan Police Service.
