Six fire engines and around 40 firefighters were called to a flat fire on Loddiges Road, Hackney.
Most of a four-bedroom flat in a residential block was damaged by the fire.
The Brigade’s Control Officers took the first of 39 calls reporting the incident at 1924. Firefighters from Homerton, Bethnal Green, Whitechapel and surrounding fire stations were mobilised to the scene. The fire was under control by 2005.
The cause of the fire is under investigation by London Fire Brigade and the Metropolitan Police Service.
