Four fire engines and around 25 firefighters were called to a fire affecting a range of sheds on Chequers Way in Southgate.

A shed and a decking area were destroyed by fire and part of another shed was also damaged. One man left the property before the Brigade arrived and was treated on scene by London Ambulance Service crews.

A gas cylinder was removed and cooled to an ambient temperature as a precaution, as some cylinders can explode when exposed to heat.

The Brigade’s Control Officers took the first of 19 calls to the fire at 1508 and sent crews from Southgate, Tottenham, Chingford and Stoke Newington fire stations to the scene. The fire was under control by 1701.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
