Four fire engines and around 25 firefighters were in attendance at a fire on Wellfield Road in Streatham.
The fire involved two garden sheds and fencing, which were all destroyed by fire. Some nearby shrubland was also alight.
One gas cylinder was removed from the scene and cooled it to an ambient temperature as a precaution, as some cylinders can explode when exposed to heat.
People in the area were advised to keep their windows and doors closed due to smoke being produced from the fire.
The Brigade received the first of 33 calls about the fire at 1113 and Control Officers mobilised crews from West Norwood, Tooting and Norbury fire stations to the scene. The fire was extinguished by 1307.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
