Fire at a shop with dwellings above - Wembley

Ten fire engines and around 70 firefighters tackled a fire on High Road, Wembley.

The fire affected a range mid terraced shops and flats. The ducting from ground to roof level of one flat was destroyed by the fire. The basement of a second flat was also destroyed, along with a store room on the first floor. Half of the ground floor of a third flat was damaged by the fire, along with a small amount of the roof and a flat roof to the rear of the building. There are no reports of any injuries.

One of the Brigade's 32-metre turntable ladders was used at the scene as an observation tower to provide the Incident Commander with an aerial view of the fire.

Control Officers took the first of 15 calls at 1237 and mobilised crews from Wembley, Park Royal, Northolt and surrounding fire stations to the scene. The fire was under control by 1609.

The fire is believed to have been accidental. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
