Four fire engines and around 25 fire engines were called to a shop fire on Whalebone Lane South in Dagenham.
A small part of a kitchen, with flats above, was destroyed by fire. Two men left before the Brigade arrived. They were suffering from smoke inhalation and assessed on scene by London Ambulance Service.
The Brigade's 999 Control officers were called at 1727 and the incident was over by 1841. Crews from Dagenham, Ilford, Romford and Barking fire stations were in attendance.
