Four fire engines and around 25 firefighters were called to a fire in the basement of a restaurant on Vicarage Lane in Stratford.
A small part of the basement was damaged by fire. Two members of the public left the restaurant before the Brigade arrived. And one adult with two children also left before the Brigade arrived from a flat above the restaurant. No injuries are reported.
The Brigade's 999 Control officers were called at 2035, they mobilised crews from Stratford, Leytonstone, Plaistow, Poplar fire stations. The incident was over by 2220.
The cause of fire was accidental and is believed to be due to an electrical event in cabling.
