Sadly, a woman has died following a fire in Ilford.
Six fire engines and around 40 firefighters were called to a fire at a range of terraced houses on Ashhurst Drive in Ilford.
The ground floor, first floor and loft conversion of a mid-terraced house were destroyed by the fire. The fire also caused a small amount of damage to the external fascia and soffits of two further houses. Ten people left the properties before the Brigade arrived. Sadly, a woman was declared dead at the scene.
Control Officers took the first of seven calls at 0243 and mobilised crews from Hainault, Leytonstone, Ilford, and surrounding fire stations to the scene. The fire was extinguished by 0604.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
