Four fire engines and around 25 firefighters were called to a fire at a house on Bexley Road in Erith.
Half of the first floor of a three storey house was destroyed by fire. Sadly one man died at the scene.
One woman was taken to hospital suffering from smoke inhalation.
The Brigade’s 999 Control officers were called at 1727 and the incident was over by 1841. Crews from Bexley, Erith and Plumstead fire stations were at the scene.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
