Six fire engines and around 40 firefighters tackled a grass fire near Lambs Lane North in Rainham.
Around two hectares of park and shrubland was damaged by the fire.
Control Officers took the first of seven calls at 1655 and mobilised crews from Dagenham, Wennington, Hornchurch and surrounding fire stations to the scene. The fire was extinguished by 1945.
