Key Projects for 2018-19 - Quarter 3 Reporting

Procurement of Replacement Aerial Appliances

The Brigade’s fleet of aerial appliances have come to the end of their serviceable life and require replacing. A review has been undertaken and determined that the Brigade would be best served by a fleet of turntable ladders. This report details the board requirements, the procurement process and makes reccomendations as to the replacement aerial appliances to be procured.

End of Year Monitoring of Commitments in the London Safety Plan for 2018/19 (End March 2019)

The current London Safety Plan (2017) was approved by the London Fire and Emergency Planning Authority on 30 March 2017 (FEP2723). The plan details how the Brigade will help make London the safest global city and is supported by a set of commitments to realise that ambition. Progress against the commitments as at the end of March 2019, is provided within this report.

External Audit Annual Audit Letter 2017-2018

This report presents the External Auditor’s Annual Audit Letter 2017/18 in respect of the former London Fire and Emergency Planning Authority and summarises the findings to the London Fire Commissioner from the 2017/18 audit. The audit comprised of two elements : the audit of the financial statements; and the assessment of the Authority’s arrangements to achieve value for money in the use of its resources.That the London Fire Commissioner notes the findings in the External Auditor's Letter.

Replacement of Incident Ground Communications – Update

This report sets out the case for replacing personal issue fireground radios and mobile repeaters under a newly established project, and deferring the replacement of the BARIE and Intrinsically Safe Radios to be carried out under the scope of the Respiratory Protective Equipment (RPE) project.

Appointment of General Counsel

Since 1 April 2018, the post of General Counsel has been filled by an interim appointee. Recruitment of a permanent postholder has now been completed and a suitable candidate is now recommended for appointment.

2017 /18 Statement of Accounts, Statutory determinations, 2017/18 Schedule of Unadjusted Misstatements, Letter of Representation and Annual governance Statement

The report presents the London Fire Commissioner's external auditor's Audit Results Report; the London Fire and Emergency Planning Authority's audited Statement of Accounts including the Annual Governance Statement; and a draft Letter of Representation for formal approval and adoption by the LFC. The report also seeks formal determination by LFC in respect of set-asides for credit liabilities in form of a Minimum Revenue Provision.
