Four fire engines and around 20 firefighters responded to a grass fire on Hounslow Heath.

Around one acre of open space was destroyed by the fire. Firefighters used water backpacks and beaters to bring the fire under control.

A Terrain Support Vehicle has also been deployed to the scene. The Terrain Support Vehicle provides off-road capability, enabling the transportation of additional equipment closer to fires on open ground. Each vehicle carries approximately 475 litres of water, which allows firefighters to pump water and drive, enabling them to tackle grass fires more quickly and safely.

The Brigade was first called about the incident at 1645, and crews from Heston, Feltham and Twickenham fire stations are at the scene.
