Ten fire engines and around 70 firefighters were called to a fire at a storage facility on Blythe Road in Kensington.
A small part of a vacant museum storage room on the second floor of a six-storey building was alight. There were no reports of any injuries.
Station Commander Josh Faulkner, who was at the scene, said: "Firefighters worked tirelessly to bring the blaze under control safely. Fortunately, the storage room was empty and no artefacts were at risk.
“One of the Brigade’s 32-metre turntable ladders was used as an observation platform, giving Incident Commanders a clearer view of the incident and helping to develop tactics more effectively.”
The Brigade was called at 1135 and fire crews from Hammersmith, Kensington, North Kensington, Paddington, Fulham, Chelsea and surrounding fire stations attended the scene. The fire was under control by 1355.
Firefighters will remain on scene this afternoon damping down remaining hot spots.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
