Four fire engines and around 25 firefighters attended a fire at a takeaway restaurant on Brigstock Road in Thornton Heath.
The takeaway shop was destroyed by fire. Five people left the property before firefighters arrived and there were no reports of any injuries.
The Brigade received the first of six calls about the fire at 0128 and Control Officers mobilised crews from Norbury and West Norwood fire stations to the scene. The fire was extinguished by 0239.
The cause of the fire has been recorded as accidental, originating from a commercial fryer.
