Four fire engines and around 25 firefighters were called to a fire at a horse stable on Nags Head Lane in Upminster.

Around 210 tonnes of horse manure was involved in the fire. There were no reports of any injuries.

Firefighters liaised with on-site staff to use mechanical diggers to cut fire breaks on each side of the piles of manure to limit any fire spread.

The Brigade was called at 1553 and the fire was under control by 1837. Fire crews from Harold Hill, Ilford, Hornchurch and Addington fire stations attended the scene.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
