Fifteen fire engines and around 100 firefighters were called to a flat fire on Maysoule Road in Battersea.
The fourth floor and the roof space of a five-storey residential building were destroyed by fire. Around 150 people were evacuated from the building by fire crews wearing breathing apparatus, with around 60 people displaced. There were no reports of any injuries.
Two of the Brigade's 32-metre turntable ladders were used as water towers to help extinguish the fire from height. The Brigade's drone team also attended, providing the Incident Commander with a greater situational awareness of the fire.
The Brigade took the first of 42 calls at 1909 and mobilised crews from Battersea, Wandsworth, Fulham, Clapham and other surrounding fire stations to the scene. The fire was brought under control at 2301.
The cause of the fire will be investigated by the Brigade's Fire Investigation Team.
