On the fire in high-rise residential buildings in Hong Kong, London Fire Commissioner, Jonathan Smith, said:
“The thoughts of everyone at London Fire Brigade are with the people of Hong Kong whose lives have been affected by this devastating fire.
“In London, we know too well the lasting impact a fire of this nature has on survivors, families, communities and first responders. Our deepest sympathies are with the families and friends of those who have lost their lives.
“We are also very saddened by the death of a firefighter, which always brings home the risks associated with firefighting.
“On behalf of London Fire Brigade, I offer our sincere condolences to Hong Kong’s fire and rescue service and to all those working tirelessly in the aftermath of this tragedy.”
