Four fire engines and around 25 firefighters attended a fire at a block of flats on Portland Grove in Stockwell.
The fire affected a ground floor bin store room and a rubbish chute running up to the fifth floor of the building. There were no reports of any injuries.
The Brigade received the first of 18 calls at 0823 and Control Officers mobilised crews from Brixton, Lambeth and Clapham fire stations to the scene. The fire was brought under control by 0838.
The cause of the fire has been recorded as accidental.
