Four fire engines and around 25 firefighters attended a fire at a block of flats on Marlow Road in Chadwell Heath.
A second-floor balcony and a small part of the roof of the building was damaged by fire. There were no reports of any injuries.
The Brigade received the first of five calls at 1008 and Control Officers mobilised crews from Dagenham and Ilford fire stations to the scene. The fire was extinguished by 1054.
The fire is believed to have been caused by a fault with an extension lead.
