Four fire engines and around 25 firefighters attended a fire at a block of flats on Langhorne Street in Woolwich.
A bedsit on the third floor of the building was destroyed by fire. Several adults and children evacuated the building before firefighters arrived and there were no reports of any injuries.
The Brigade was called at 1735 and Control Officers mobilised crews from Eltham, Plumstead and East Greenwich fire stations to the scene. The fire was extinguished by 1910.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
