Six fire engines and around 40 firefighters were called to a house fire on Gilbert Road in Belvedere.

Part of the basement of a terraced house was damaged by fire. Four people left the building before the Brigade arrived and were assessed on scene by London Ambulance Service crews.

The Brigade’s Control Officers took the first of six calls to the fire at 1828 and sent crews from Erith, Bexley, Plumstead, Lee Green and surrounding fire stations to the scene. The fire was under control by 1949.

The cause of the fire is under investigation by the Brigade and the Metropolitan Police Service.
