Four fire engines and around 25 firefighters tackled a fire in a garden on Broad Walk in Greenwich.

Two summerhouses were destroyed and several trees and fence panels were damaged by the fire. There are no reports of any injuries.

Control Officers took the first of 23 calls at 1916 and mobilised crews from East Greenwich, Lee Green, Eltham and Greenwich fire stations to the scene. The fire was extinguished by 2111.

The fire is believed to have been accidental and was caused by paper igniting on a compost heap.
