Four fire engines and around 25 firefighters attended a house fire on Ivorydown in Downham.

Part of the ground floor of a mid-terraced house was damaged by fire. Five people evacuated from the property before firefighters arrived. A woman was taken to hospital by London Ambulance Service. Two men were also treated for smoke inhalation.

The Brigade received the first of four calls at 0749 and Control Officers mobilised crews from Bromley, Lee Green, Lewisham and Eltham fire stations to the scene. The fire was extinguished by 0826.

The fire is believed to have been caused by the failure of a lithium-ion battery pack for an e-bike that was on charge.
