Eight fire engines and around 60 firefighters were called to a fire on The Broadway, Wimbledon.
The incident was located in a single storey commercial property, occupied by a takeaway restaurant. Firefighters have been working to extinguish a fire in the property's ducting and the fire is now under control.
However, firefighters will remain on scene into this evening as they work to fully extinguish the fire.
Traffic remains impacted with The Broadway closed due to this incident.
The Brigade was first called about the incident at 1146 and Control Officers mobilised crews from Kingston, New Malden, Wimbledon and surrounding fire stations to the scene. One of the Brigade's turntable ladders was deployed to the scene as a water tower to tackle the fire from above. The fire was brought under control by 1612.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
