Four fire engines and around 25 firefighters attended a fire on Oakshade Road in Downham.
A single-storey garage and a vehicle were destroyed by fire. Part of a neighbouring garage was also damaged. There were no reports of any injuries.
Firefighters removed and cooled a number of gas cylinders to an ambient temperature as a precaution, as some cylinders can explode when exposed to heat.
The Brigade received the first of 38 calls at 1205 and Control Officers mobilised crews from Forest Hill, Lee Green, Woodside and Eltham fire stations to the scene. The fire was extinguished by 1337.
The fire is being treated as accidental and believes to have been caused by a heat source coming into contact with a combustible item.
