Four fire engines and around 25 firefighters tackled a fire at a takeaway shop with flats above on Stamford Hill in Hackney.
Part of the ground floor was damaged by fire. Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus led four people to safety via an external staircase. There were no reports of any injuries.
The Brigade's Control Officers took the first call to the fire at 0953 and sent crews from Tottenham, Walthamstow and Islington fire stations to the scene. The fire was under control by 1152.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
