Six fire engines and around 40 firefighters responded to a fire on High Road, Leytonstone.
The fire occurred in a public house consisting of four floors. Part of a residential space on the fourth floor was damaged by the fire. Seven people left the property before crews arrived, and there are no reports of any injuries.
The Brigade was first called about the incident at 0359, and crews had the fire under control by 0646. Firefighters from Leytonstone, Leyton Walthamstow and surrounding fire stations attended the scene.
The fire is believed to have been accidental, caused by the unsafe disposal of smoking materials.
