Eight fire engines and around 60 firefighters tackled a car fire in a basement at a mixed-use building on Pegler Square in Kidbrooke.
Ten people left the building before the Brigade arrived. Crews wearing breathing apparatus extinguished the fire.
Part of a car in the basement car park was destroyed by fire. There was also a small amount of damage to a second car due to the blaze. There were no reports of any injuries.
The Brigade's Control Officers took the first call to the fire at 0923 and mobilised crews from Lee Green, Greenwich, East Greenwich, New Cross and surrounding fire stations to the scene. The incident was under control by 0954.
The fire was accidental and caused by an electrical event in or around a lead acid battery in a petrol fuelled car.
