Four fire engines and around 25 firefighters attended a fire at a hotel on Great Suffolk Street in Southwark.

A small electrical fire occurred in a kitchen. More than 170 people safely evacuated the hotel before firefighters arrived and there were no reports of any injuries.

The Brigade was called at 0524 and Control Officers mobilised crews from Dowgate, Dockhead and Lambeth fire stations to the scene. The incident was over for firefighters by 0600.

The fire is believed to have been caused by an electrical fault.
