Twelve fire engines and around 80 firefighters were called to a fire on Mollison Avenue in Enfield.
A two-storey warehouse has been destroyed by fire. During firefighting operations, the building's roof collapsed, which increased the visibility of the fire and the amount of smoke being produced. The collapse has resulted in some parts of the building being inaccessible. Firefighters have spent over 24 hours extinguishing deep seated pockets of fire and remain on scene as of this morning (23/06).
There have been no reports of any injuries.
People in the local area were advised to keep their windows and doors closed at this time due to smoke travel.
This was a very visible fire and could be seen from locations including the M25.
Control Officers took around 50 calls about the fire, with the first call received at 2005. Crews from Enfield, Edmonton, Chingford, Woodford and surrounding fire stations were initially mobilised to the scene, alongside crews from Hertfordshire Fire & Rescue Service and Essex County Fire & Rescue Service. The fire was brought under control by 0038 on Sunday (22/06).
The Brigade has used its turntable ladders as water towers to help extinguish the fire from above. Firefighters also deployed a Hose Layer Unit as part of their response, increasing the amount of water available for firefighting operations. A drone has also been used to provide the Incident Commander with a greater situational awareness of the fire.
The cause of the fire is under investigation by the Brigade and Metropolitan Police.
