Four fire engines and around 25 firefighters were called to a fire at a house on Downs Park Road in Hackney.
Part of a loft conversion was destroyed by fire in a three roomed flat in the loft.
The Brigade's 999 Control Officers were first called at 1250 and deployed fire crews from Bethnal Green, Holloway, Stoke Newington and Dowgate fire stations. The incident was under control by 1409.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
