Car repair workshop - Romford

Ten fire engines and around 70 firefighters were called to a fire at a car repair workshop on Faringdon Avenue in Romford.

The fire occurred in a single-storey industrial unit building divided into several units. One car workshop was destroyed by fire. A small part of a further three adjacent units were also partially damaged by fire. The London Ambulance Service attended the scene but no one required any hospital treatment.

The Brigade's 999 Control officers received the first of 46 calls alerting them to the fire at 1758. They deployed fire crews from Harold Hill, Romford, Hornchurch, Ilford, Dagenham, Woodford and surrounding fire stations. Essex County Fire and Rescue Service also attended. The fire was brought under control by 1951. 

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
