Four fire engines and around 25 firefighters attended a flat fire on Fiennes Close in Chadwell Heath.
Part of a ground-floor flat in a three-storey building was damaged by fire. There were no reports of any injuries.
The Brigade was called at 1418 and Control Officers mobilised crews from Dagenham, Barking and Romford fire stations to the scene. The fire was extinguished by 1508.
The fire is believed to have been caused by an electrical fault.
