Eight fire engines and around 60 firefighters responded to a fire on High Street North, East Ham.
The incident was located in a terraced property, consisting of commercial units with flats above. Part of a flat on the third floor was alight. One of the Brigade's 32m ladders was deployed to the scene as part of our response.
Traffic will be heavily impacted in the surrounding area and the following roads have been closed as crews remain on scene:
- High Street North, between Kensington Avenue and Plashet Grove
- Tennyson Avenue
The Brigade received the first of four calls reporting the fire at 1553. Control officers mobilised crews from Plaistow, Stratford, Ilford and surrounding fire stations to the scene. Firefighters had the incident under control by 1751.
The cause of the fire is not yet known.
