Six fire engines and around 40 firefighters tackled a fire at a shop with dwellings above on Wood Street in Walthamstow.
Part of the first floor and a small part of the ground floor were alight.
The Brigade was called at 1215 and crews from Walthamstow, Woodford, Chingford and surrounding fire stations attended the scene. The fire was under control by 1326.
The cause of the fire is now under investigation.
