Four fire engines and around 25 firefighters tackled a fire at a vehicle repair workshop on Long Lane in Finchley.
Part of a single-storey workshop was damaged by fire. One vehicle was also destroyed and two further vehicles were damaged. Five people left the building before the Brigade arrived and a man was taken to hospital by London Ambulance Service crews.
Firefighters removed and cooled a gas cylinder as a precaution as some cylinders can explode when exposed to heat.
The Brigade’s Control Officers took the first of 12 calls to the fire at 0911 and mobilised crews from Finchley, Hendon, Hornsey and Stanmore fire stations to the scene. The fire was under control by 1145.
The fire is believed to have been accidental and caused by a fault in a lithium ion battery.
