Five fire engines and around 35 firefighters responded to a fire on Camdenhurst Street, Limehouse.
The fire occurred in a residential block of 17 floors. A five roomed flat on the thirteenth floor was destroyed by the fire. One of the Brigade's 32m ladders was used to observe the spread of the fire as crews worked to contain it.
Two adults and a child left the flat before the arrival of the Brigade, and were treated on scene by the London Ambulance Service for smoke inhalation. A further woman was assessed on scene by paramedics for injuries sustained whilst evacuating the building. There are no reports of any further injuries.
The Brigade received the first of nine calls reporting the fire at 2107. Firefighters from Shadwell, Millwall, Whitechapel and surrounding fire stations attended the scene. Crew were able to bring the fire ender control by 2230.
The fire is under investigation by the Brigade's Fire Investigation Team.
