Five fire engines and around 35 firefighters tackled a flat fire on St John's Estate in Hackney.
Part of an eighth-floor flat was damaged by fire. There were no reports of any injuries.
The Brigade's Control Officers took the first call to the fire at 1500 and mobilised crews from Shadwell, Bethnal Green, Stoke Newington, Dockhead and Holloway fire stations to the scene. The fire was under control by 1545.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
