A new firefighter drama, The Smoke airs this Thursday on Sky One at 9pm. London Fire Brigade will be using the opportunity to talk about fire safety.
Speaking ahead of the first episode, London's Fire Commissioner Ron Dobson said:
"The Smoke is a fictional drama and obviously not meant to be a documentary about a real fire and rescue service but we'll be using it as an opportunity to get viewers thinking about fire safety.
"We will be tweeting fire safety tips as the drama unfolds and asking the public to tweet or post on Facebook their fire escape plans during the ad breaks.”
The Brigade were not involved in nor were advisors on the production of The Smoke but as it is set in the Capital, London fire chiefs will be watching with interest. The Brigade hopes to use opportunities to talk about some of the issues that are sure to come up in the first British drama based on the fire service since London's Burning.
The Brigade will be tweeting fire safety messages from our twitter.
