A neighbour rescued a woman from a house fire on Hutton Lane in Harrow.

Harrow Sub Officer Toby Aylett, who was at the scene said:

“The next door neighbour heard a smoke alarm sounding and went to investigate. An older woman was inside the property and tapping at the window for help. The neighbour broke the window and dragged the resident to safety. Firefighters tackled the fire which damaged part of the ground floor.”

A woman was suffering from smoke inhalation and was taken to hospital by London Ambulance Service crews.

The Brigade was called at 2229 and the fire was under control by 2310. Fire crews from Harrow and Stanmore fire stations attended the incident. The cause of the fire is believed to be accidental and involve a portable heater.
