House or flat fire

Firefighters rescued a one-year-old puppy from a flat fire on Frances Street in Woolwich.

A small part of a five roomed flat on the sixth floor was damaged by fire. Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus rescued the one-year-old Bullmastiff from inside the affected flat. The puppy was safely returned to their owner. There were no reports of any injuries.

The Brigade was called at 1257 and the fire was under control by 1349. Two fire engines and around 10 firefighters from Plumstead and East Greenwich fire stations attended.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
