Four fire engines and around 25 firefighters were called to a flat fire on Chesterton Road in Ladbroke Grove.

Half of the staircase from the second to the third floor of a flat was damaged by the fire. Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus rescued one man via an internal staircase. He was taken to hospital by London Ambulance Service crews suffering smoke inhalation.

The Brigade was called at 1930 and the fire was under control by 2006. Fire crews from North Kensington, Kensington and Paddington fire stations were at the scene.

The cause of the fire is under investigation by the Brigade and the Metropolitan Police Service.
