Four fire engines and around 25 firefighters were called to a house fire on Pelham Road in Wood Green.

The blaze affected part of the ground and first floors. One man left the property before the arrival of the Brigade. He was treated at the scene for smoke inhalation and taken to hospital by London Ambulance service crews.

Firefighters removed one propane cylinder from the house and cooled it to ambient temperature as cylinders can explode when exposed to heat.

Eight people left the unaffected neighbouring properties as a precaution.

The Brigade was called at 1141 and the fire was under control at 1302. Fire crews from Tottenham, Southgate, Holloway, and Stoke Newington fire stations attended the scene.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
