Firefighters rescued a ferret which had got herself into a bit of a tricky situation.

A crew from Walthamstow Fire Station were called to Forest Road in Walthamstow to help a panicked family after their pet Dushka got her head stuck between pipes under the kitchen sink.

Crew Manager Saul Underwood said: "The family had been searching for Dushka all morning and then heard the noise coming from under the sink.

"She was well and truly wedged but two firefighters worked together to pull the pipes away from the wall and gently free Dushka.

"She was quite happy once she was free and the family were very relieved and thankful - there were even tears.

"We would always encourage people to phone the RSPCA in the first instance if they see an animal in distress. Then if they need our assistance they will call us and we can help."

The Brigade was called at 1018 and the incident was over by 1030. One fire engine from Walthamstow Fire Station attended.
