Five people escaped and two were rescued by firefighters after a fire broke out in a house on Clissold Crescent in Hackney.
A number of people were assessed by London Ambulance Service crews and one person was treated for smoke inhalation.
Part of the ground floor of the four storey semi-detached house was damaged by fire.
Four fire engines and 21 firefighters and officers from Stoke Newington, Holloway and Islington fire stations were at the scene.
The Brigade was called at 0754 and the fire was under control at 0901.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
