Four fire engines and around 25 firefighters attended a fire at a landfill site on Launders Lane in Rainham.
Firefighters spent several hours extinguishing a number of hotspots across approximately one hectare of land.
The Brigade was called at 1926 and Control Officers mobilised crews from Wennington, Hornchurch and Dagenham fire stations to the scene, along with a crew from Essex County Fire & Rescue Service. A 32-metre turntable ladder was also deployed as a water tower to help extinguish the hotspots from above. It was also used as an observation tower, to provide the Incident Commander with a greater situational awareness of the incident.
