Flat fire - Maida Vale

Six fire engines and around 40 firefighters were called to a fire at a block of flats on Bourne Terrace in Maida Vale.

Most of a four-roomed flat on the 17th floor of a 20-storey block was damaged by the fire. Around 70 people left the building before the Brigade arrived. Crews wearing breathing apparatus assisted one man from the 16th floor. He was treated at the scene for smoke inhalation by London Ambulance Service crews.

The Brigade's 999 Control Officers took 51 calls to the fire.

The Brigade was called at 0955 and the fire was under control by 1045. Fire crews from Paddington, North Kensington, Kensington, Euston and West Hampstead fire stations were at the scene.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
