Ten fire engines and around 70 firefighters were called to a fire at a block of flats on Abinger Grove in Deptford.
Half of a flat on the 13th floor of a 17-storey block was damaged by the fire. A woman and two children left the affected flat before the Brigade arrived. Approximately 100 further people left the building before the Brigade arrived. There were no reports of any injuries.
The Brigade's 999 Control Officers took 22 calls to the fire.
The Brigade was called at 0652 and the fire was under control by 0753. Fire crews from Greenwich, Old Kent Road, Deptford, Lewisham, Peckham, New Cross and surrounding fire stations were at the scene.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
