Four fire engines and around 25 firefighters were called to a fire on the balcony of a block of flats on Ensign Street in Whitechapel.
The fire badly damaged a fourth floor balcony. Two women, one man and one child were led to safety by firefighters via an internal staircase. They were assessed at the scene by London Ambulance Service crews. Two further adults from the neighbouring flat were evacuated, unhurt, from the property.
The Brigade was called at 0352 and the fire was under control by 0551. Fire crews from Whitechapel, Dowgate, Dockhead and Shoreditch fire stations were at the scene. The cause of the fire is believed to be electrical.
